The proposed Cancer Prevention and Survivorship Centre (CPSC) is an expansion and reimagining of the existing Canadian Cancer Society offices and Jean C. Barber Lodge, located at the corner of 10th Avenue and Ash street in Vancouver. The new CPSC will be a hub of expertise in cancer prevention and survivorship research, cancer control policy; as well as provide support and affordable housing for people undergoing cancer treatment.
A new generous atrium space, enclosed by a vertical wood veil, is proposed along 10th Avenue to engage directly with the street. Seminars, meetings, exhibitions and events within the new public space will enliven the adjacent public streetscape. The newly renovated brick building will also house flexible workshop spaces, research and program funding offices, an enhanced lodge residence, and a new wellness center and roof top meditation garden.
