SHAPE Architecture completed a significant expansion to the North Vancouver Tennis Centre for the District of North Vancouver Recreation Commission, which includes three new indoor courts and 3000 square feet of multi-purpose, flex space, public viewing and fitness area.
The environmental sensitivity of the site required careful consultation with the DNV Planning Department as well as a QEP and liaison with the DFO. A “Streamside Development Permit” was required due to the expansion’s adjacency to an environmentally-sensitive creek. The existing circulation and controls were retained and enhanced to reduce the need for additional staffing requirements at multiple control points. The facility remained in operation for the duration of construction.
